About Us

Welcome to D-Sharp Dental Inc.

After years of practicing in various offices, listening to dental professionals, and experiencing first-hand the frustration of using poorly designed and maintained instruments, Kathleen Bokrossy, RDH, created D-Sharp Dental Inc. Kathleen applied her real world experience to help design instruments and instrument maintenance systems to help maximize both clinician and patient comfort. In its infancy, D-Sharp’s mission was to provide unique instrument designs combined with instrument life extension services to help practices reduce costs and increase patient and clinician comfort.

As a practicing dental hygienist and dental industry thought leader, Kathleen understands that using sharp, well maintained, high performance instruments is the key to effective and efficient instrumentation therapy. When hygienists use dull or poorly maintained instruments, patients leave the dental practice with a negative experience. Negative experiences transfer into poor patient compliance and ultimately results in low patient retention and referral. “If it is a pleasant experience for both the patient and the hygienist, patients will happily share their experience with their friends. Happy patients return and refer!” quotes Kathleen.

D-Sharp is committed to the dental hygiene profession and has worked alongside the clinician to ensure that they are using the best instrument for them on a personal level. This helps prevent burn-out, repetitive strain injuries and fatigue. It also helps to increase tactile sensitivity and prevent slippage so that gentle and thorough care is provided to their clients.

There is an environmental responsibility as a global citizen and D-Sharp is committed to doing their part to help protect the earth’s resources and minimize our impact on it. “We have taken on a design-for-environment initiative where we have designed our instruments in such a way that we can replace or re-use parts of the instrument, for instance, our IntroCusping process”, says Kathleen. “Our handles are designed as a standard size so that whether it is our company replacing the ends or another, the standard size tip will work!” “Many companies work in the cradle-to-grave environment where they actually create an instrument that, in the end, becomes disposable whether it is a month of use, two months or a year. They create their instruments so that the handles cannot be re-used. The aperture may be too wide or the handles may be plastic so that you end need to dispose of them.”

D-Sharp is partnered with Operatory Management Network™ which offers unique instrument life extension programs, new instrument acquisition and management strategies, hands-on continuing education for dental hygienists and other operatory cost containment services to help you reduce operatory costs and increase practice revenue.
